History
Archaeological discoveries indicate that Sri Lanka's history dates back at least 500,000 years. Airport
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB): Located 29 km north of Colombo.
Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (HRI): Situated 70 km east of Tangalle.
Ratmalana Domestic Airport (RML): Primarily serves domestic flights, located 18 km south of Colombo.
Passports & Visas
Passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. All travelers must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for short visits related to business, tourism, or transit. The ETA is valid for three months and can be applied for online at eta.gov.lk.
Health Requirements
Sri Lanka has eliminated many common diseases, including malaria and polio. Routine vaccinations are recommended, with additional vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and Rabies if traveling to rural areas or engaging in activities like hiking. Consult a healthcare provider at least four weeks before departure. Travelers should carry lightweight clothing, rain gear for monsoon seasons, and sunscreen for protection against the tropical climate.
